According to the Membership FAQ page on the Planet Fitness site, you may join Planet Fitness at age 13 provided you are accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian when you sign-up and when you are working out. The fitness chain does not allow any members under the age of 13 as one frustrated parent discovered.

How old do I have to be to get Planet Fitness membership?

The Planet Fitness reviewer explained, “I called to see if I could join with my daughter who is under the age of 10 but was recommended by her doctor to do some cardio activities. All I wanted was for she and I to go walk and do the stepper. I was told they WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE under the age of 13 to join! Now how is it that you want to cure childhood obesity but have an age limit even with an adult not leaving their side?!...”

The reviewer’s experience is consistent with the company’s policy as it is stated online. Additionally, once you are old enough to join the club, young members will need to be accompanied by a parent or a guardian inside the club until you are 16 years old. Once you turn 16, you may keep a signed waiver on file and work out alone at the club location. When you turn 18 years old, you are eligible for a Black Card membership provide you have a valid ID.
