Of course, this system does not always work, which is likely why eBay’s customer service is rated 1.6 stars out of a possible 5 on PissedConsumer.com. Out of 430,000 total phone calls to the company through the review platform, only 7% of issues are resolved according to the users, and most phone calls last less than three minutes.

According to one of many online reviews, the virtual eBay chat assistant doesn’t get the job done. In one review, an eBay user shared: 

Customer Service for eBay there is no longer available to contact when you need assistance… and you have to rely on some computer that has no answers to the problems you are having at this time.

The frustrated customer claims, “...you only speak [to] some stupid computer” rather than a “live telephoned customer support” when they needed help with two items they purchased. The frustrated customer claims those are the final items they will buy through the site.

How to call eBay customer support?

The eBay customer service phone number is not readily available on the company’s website. If you dig through the help section in search of the eBay telephone number, you’ll eventually find options to get help from an automated assistant or contact an agent. Other options include a returning process and reporting an item that hasn’t arrived.

For most situations, the only option is to arrange a callback from eBay. While the company offers to call you, many eBay reviews express frustration with trying to contact the company on their own terms. Customers want to call the company directly and are trying to find out how to contact eBay by phone. 

While it might not be heavily publicized on the website, there is an eBay customer service phone number available to use. You can reach the eBay resolution center by calling (866) 961-9253 for general customer service, (866) 348-9519 for hacked accounts, or (866) 643-1607 to report fraud.

Reaching eBay.com customer service by phone can be tricky, as one consumer discovered. When their account was locked due to login attempts, one customer called to reset his password at eBay's request. This consumer claimed the “agent was the worst experience I’ve had with a company.”

He [the agent] totally doesn't listen to my issue and just reads off a script they tell every customer over the phone for such cases...  I would have to call them back in 24 hours, and he literally hung up the phone on me without even listening to what I have to say.

Another complained about how hard it is to arrange a callback. In their review, they shared that they sent “6 emails to finally get a callback” and then were “blown off” by eBay. Ultimately, they closed their account after eBay backed a buyer in a dispute.

Some consumers prefer written communication and sending emails instead of looking for a phone number for eBay support. However, eBay's customer service does not list a general email address on the company’s website. If you dig a bit through the automated help chat feature, you can find an eBay email for specific purposes. eBay support does have an online presence on social networks. While you always have the option of using the eBay customer service number, you can also contact the company through many social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter.)

How to use eBay resolution center?

The eBay Resolution Center may be your best option to sort out issues, specifically between buyers and sellers. You’ll find resources for buyers and sellers regarding transactions. In the Resolution Center, eBay customer support provides information and acts as a mediation service when issues arise.

You might use the Resolution Center for:

  • Canceling an order
  • View and work with disputes and issues related to items you've sold (or are trying to sell)
  • Report missing items
  • Return items to sellers
  • View purchase history and the various interactions with those sellers.

The options inside the eBay.com Resolution Center will be specific to the type of transaction you’re concerned about. In many cases, you may get more targeted support than by calling a generic eBay telephone number.

Unfortunately, the Resolution Center doesn’t work correctly for everyone. In the review #4609789, a customer noted that they had “spent hours trying to get to the resolution center,” and after typing their information “so many times and fingers are bleeding.” They claim the company makes “it impossible to get something resolved.”

You people just cost me $500.00 by allowing the buyer to return his old camera that he said I shipped him. If you look at the original pictures from my ad you will see in one picture that shows some parts inside box and all brand new. What I got back from customer was a several year old camera that was sun bleached and a monitor, what I sent was a new camera wiring, mounting hardware etc.still in original box.By allowing him to return the purchase he cheated me and so did you.I have cancelled everything I was selling through you and will never do business with you company again. hi i recently made a purchase of a 9ct gold ring. Upon receiving the ring I opened up the package and found it to be all twisted and split exactly in the middle of the band. I contacted the seller and was met by accusations that the ring was perfect on the way out therefore I must have done it. This was not the case as I collect gold and wear gold. Would never deface a piece of gold like that.I put a negative comment on her profile and noticed today that the review I left has now been removed. So my question is what's the point of having a review system when ebay are simply gonna remove bad reviews. How does anyone know who to trust buying stuff if all negative comment get removed. I'm in receipt of a response to complaints made regarding eBay using policy as a stall tactic to delay resolving eBay buyer problems. The problems with eBay are as yet unresolved. I forwarded a letter to eBay not only protesting suspension of my account and providing examples of other unnecessary suspensions resulting only in further delays and more problems. I've been a loyal customer of eBay for longer than is reasonable to account for in this space. The problems and issue's are not resolved and no solution has been offerred to date resulting in reinstatement of my buyer account as well as resolution of buyer problems.The problems range from incomplete packages to disinformation involving product description and package contents. In one instance I decided to keep the item in question as the webcam worked but was not the correct advertised resolution. This is an instance where I was relying heavily on the honesty, integrity, and sense of fair play with sellers who were devoid of the aforementioned attributes of honesty, integrity, and sense of fair play.

I was duped into getting 4/200.00 gift cards, totaling 800.00 of my hard earned money. Before I sent them the card numbers even though they said they were working with Ebay to process the sale, I backed out because something they said was a known lie. I called Ebay to explain the issue and they told me to go to Spoof@ebay.com and file a complaint so they could look into it and get me my money back. I still have not turned these cards over to anyone and I was told to send pics of the cards, the item I wanted to purchase and the receipts so I did as I was told by the Ebay representative. This was done on June 13, 2022 and I still have not heard back from ebay about my refund. I am not happy to be left out in limbo this long. Most of the coins were 1 cent us pennies. There were a few other odd coins of little value. I have tried to find where i bought these, but have not found the order. The seller is sending me another identical item but for this new transaction to go through, I am advised to cancel the above order. Unfortunately the system does not allow me to cancer the order (or return the item). If the order is not cancelled, the money will be credited back to me, which I do not want. Can you kindly assist me to cancel the order as matter of urgency so that the seller can send send the new item?Thank you for your assistance in this matter

i have tried everything possible to speak to someone. it says sign in. tell me how to sign in when my accont is locked. nobody answers phone. hope this message gets to somebody with some sense. i have been at it for three days e bay is an absolute disgrace. if i could go somewhere else i would.

I have been emailing and calling all numbers and have not been able to resolve an issue with your eBay gift cards. Thru the FTC website I was able to cancel the cards but cannot speak to anyone regarding recompense. I do not have an account and if you don't you are SOL! Email gives you numbers that don't work at all! I feel I have been scammed twice! You have money and I have useless cards. What a ripoff!
