6. What Is RockAuto Return Policy?

As evidenced in the RockAuto complaints, customers often encounter issues with their ordered items and would like to return them. Sometimes, the RockAuto parts are defective, or the wrong items are shipped. According to RockAuto reviews, other times the customer had attempted to cancel their order, but the items were still sent out.

For example, in RockAuto review # 4527616, the customer explained that they were seeking a replacement or a refund for a Ford Thunderbird Power brake booster that they had bought on the platform. It stopped working after brief use. 

With no telephone number for RockAuto for customers to follow up on such issues, we checked the company’s website to find out what their return policy stipulates.

According to the RockAuto return policy, customers can return items within 30 days for a refund. You can return any parts except liquids that have been opened, gift certificates, and parts that have been installed or modified. You must return the items in their original packaging to qualify for a refund. The company does not refund if the parts or manufacturer’s box is damaged.

Shipping charges are not refundable, and the customer pays for RockAuto returns. If you refuse delivery or the shipping company returns the items because you provided the wrong shipping address, the carrier return fees will be deducted from your refund.

If 30 days have lapsed, you may still be able to return the items for replacement if they are faulty and qualify for the manufacturer’s warranty.

7. How to Return RockAuto Parts?

 According to the RockAuto reviews, customers have challenges with returning items. Even those that meet the RockAuto return policy face challenges. Furthermore, just like there is no RockAuto phone number to order parts, you can’t make a call for returns. These challenges make some customers wonder—is RockAuto legit?

For instance, in RockAuto review #2583322, the customer expresses frustration not having the possibility to escalate his return issue with the company. He believes he had extenuating circumstances (being hospitalized for COVID-19) for not returning his items within the stipulated return period.

We looked at their website to establish the right steps for RockAuto returns. They are as follows:

  1. Log in to your RockAuto account.
  2. On the “Order Status & Returns” page, find the RockAuto parts you would like to return by providing your email address or phone number and order number.
  3. Click “Arrange a Return/Report a Problem” on the part you want to return.
  4. Select the number of items you would like to return.
  5. Then, choose the reason for returning from the drop-down menu.
  6. The system will ask further questions regarding the return and then provide you with return instructions. 
  7. You will also be allowed to generate a return shipping label.
  8. Follow the return instructions provided. Note that the return address is not the same as the address where the parts were shipped from. The parts must be returned in their original packaging.

RockAuto shipping time varies depending on your carrier and method of shipping. The provided delivery time for your ordered items is an estimate and may vary slightly. Bear in mind the time taken to process your order at the warehouse.

On 1-23.24 I had my 2015 F-150 in for service, while doing a vehicle inspection they found a crack on the passenger rear rotor , i brought this from rock auto about three months ago and i have less then 1500 miles on this brakes. i need to know if rotor is cover for manufactuer defects, and how i can get a replacement rotor

I placed order 261927582 on January 15, expecting arrival on January 29. I found an email on January 25th stating that Loomis refused the order due to size and returned to you and i only received a small portion of the cost back. How is this my fault? i never even saw the package. It was your choice to ship on Loomis, you should know the rules.I don't expect a response from a company with this level of terrible customer service but will be sharing this and never shopping your site ever again for our delivery company with an extensive fleet.

I had ordered a steering wheel for my 2015 Chev Silverado 1500 from Rock Auto, The description states it has a "Heated Steering Wheel Switch" , when the wheel came to the house, there is no switch on it. Their description is wrong and the item has to be returned. I am to understand they will not reimburse the shipping charge, even though they errored on the description.

I am pissed because I ordered some shocks from rock auto and fedex delivered the package and didn't knock on door or ring my doorbell therefore package was left on my porch and I dont know how long for. I had to turn and buy some locally because my car was already at shop waiting on parts. I dont blame Rock Auto for fedex not utilizing their delivery service correctly..

Ordered a part from Rock Auto. They sent the wrong part. Tried to return it but their system doesn't have any record of the purchase. Even though I have the part and the paper with their order number on it. So since they have no customer service, there is no recourse to return it and get a refund.

I bought dorman fog lights for my 2010 explorer and paid a dorman price for them. I received EAGLE EYE lenses in a dorman box. Lenses that are listed on their website for half the cost of the dorman brand. When I contacted Rockauto corporate headquarters I was informed that this practice is ok because the supplier backs up the product with there warranty, and that eagle eye is their supplier? The fact is that it is a fraud and I am launching a small claims lawsuit against both rock auto canada, and dorman canada for the purchase price, and the time wasted shopping, shipping, and returning items. I took a chance with RockAuto, after reading reviews about their lack of customer service and no real person or phone number to talk to. Ordered their set of suspension they matched up in a kit, received promptly with well packaging but during installing missing hadwares to both front lower control arms and sway bars length too long in comparison with old one. I reported both issues on their long online process answer their questions, ughh. I will be getting hardware but their long process online to report the issue they said there is no way 2 sway bars are wrong. So they will not replace the sway bars but refund me $$, their decision not mine. Well, minus one customer in a billion.
